Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is administered with a small nasal mask you breathe through during your time in the dental chair. Its effects take over quickly and wear off just as soon as the treatment is complete, so you can go on about your day as usual. <\/span><\/p>\n

Oral conscious sedation is achieved with a pill you take orally about an hour before your appointment. Its effects will have taken over by the time you are settling into the dental chair. You\u2019re still awake while under this type of sedation, just fully removed from the sensations of what\u2019s going on around you. <\/span><\/p>\n

For more complex procedures or for people who experience significant dental fear or anxiety, IV sedation provides an effective solution. The medicine is administered directly into the vein, and can easily be controlled throughout the procedure. Dr. Yarnell is one of the only dentists in the area offering this type of sedation. <\/span><\/p>\n

What to Expect from Sedation Dentistry<\/span><\/h3>\n

At your consultation with Dr. Yarnell she will help you select the sedation option that matches your need.
