The use of intraoral photography may be the most important change in dental care in recent years because it allows our team to make patients truly feel like partners in their treatment. Patients are able to see their smiles from the dentist’s perspective which makes offering clear explanations about areas for concern and possible treatment options easier. We use the state-of-the-art Omnicam intraoral camera to offer patients a clear view of their smiles and work with them to create a personalized treatment plan they can be 100% comfortable with. It also eliminates the need for messy impressions!
Traditional impressions were captured by having patients bite down on unpleasant putty. Now, we’re able to accurately capture the contours of patients’ bites and even the smallest pits and grooves by digitally scanning teeth and gums, allowing for more precisely crafted dental crowns, tooth-colored fillings, bridges, implant restorations, nightguards, orthodontic treatment, and much more. These impressions are also available immediately for our dental lab or in-office CEREC milling unit.
Digital x-rays offer a vast improvement over traditional x-rays as they expose patients to significantly less radiation, do not require development using hazardous chemicals, and the resulting images are much higher definition than their traditional counterparts. We use the Schick 33 digital x-ray system to offer patients clear digital x-rays that can be shared instantly with insurance providers or specialists and do not require excessive amounts of space to store or specialized lights to view.
Soft tissue lasers offer fast, effective treatment that reduces discomfort during care and promotes faster healing after the procedure. We are able to use soft tissue lasers to perform a number of treatments including scaling and root planing, gum tissue reshaping, and more. Laser dentistry allows our team to provide comfortable, effective treatments for patients with gum disease or other soft tissue concerns without the need for stitches that increase the risk for future oral health concerns.
While digital X-rays allow dentists to clearly view patients’ underlying dental structures, their scope can be limited in many cases. For more extensive treatment planning, a CT Conebeam scanner may be necessary. These 3D images give us the ability to capture a comprehensive X-ray of the entire upper and lower jaw, as well as other nearby facial structures that may play a part in our creation of a treatment plan. CT Conebeam scans can be used for patients who are in need of orthodontic care, dental implant placement, tooth extraction, and other advanced dental services. We also utilize our Sirona Galileos CT Conebeam scanner to make preventive dentistry more effective. We recommend patients have a full set of CT X-rays taken every three to five years in order to ensure their teeth have no developmental concerns or underlying damage that has gone unnoticed or undiagnosed. By incorporating these advanced digital X-rays into regular treatment planning, our team is able to ensure that our treatments are more effective, more precise, and always of the highest quality possible.
